ISLAMABAD: The Chinese Gezhouba Group has been invited to invest in Pakistan’s growing highway and motorway projects. This offer was made during a high-level meeting in Islamabad, aimed at boosting trade, tourism, and regional connectivity.
The meeting saw Chinese delegation leader Liu Hualiang, Chairman of the Gezhouba Group, discuss investment opportunities with Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan. The minister highlighted the strategic importance of key infrastructure projects and their potential to strengthen Pak-China economic ties.
Among the key projects discussed was the Mansehra–Naran–Kaghan–Babusar highway. This route, which stretches toward the Chinese border, offers a crucial alternative to the Karakoram Highway and plays a major role in trade and tourism between the two countries. Khan also urged China to invest in completing the M6 and M9 motorways, which would enhance regional connectivity.
Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the need for infrastructure development due to Pakistan’s rising population. He pointed out the significant increase in revenue for the National Highway Authority, from Rs66 billion to Rs109 billion in a year, indicating the growing investment potential in Pakistan’s infrastructure sector.
Chairman Liu Hualiang expressed the Gezhouba Group’s readiness to invest in Pakistan’s motorways, reaffirming China’s commitment to Pakistan’s economic development. Both sides agreed that expanding cooperation in communications and infrastructure will support long-term growth and strengthen bilateral relations
